This was an exciting and challenging project for us as the owner is a passionate adventurer. She was keen to create a home that expressed her lifelong love for travel and yet which also functioned as a landing place or retreat, a place to be still. She came to us with an abundance of references but wanted an editorial eye. We collaborated in finding a way to incorporate notes of exuberant color but in a contained and coherent manner. We used notes of golds, a vivid red and saffron, built an ultra glamorous tented room and added a nod to Bennison. Lacquered walls, rattan furniture, the considered use of silks and velvets and dark wood floors all added a depth and warmth that works in juxtaposition with the black and white travel photography.
