Wooden Cabbage Barn

The Barn is a self-contained apartment for two, set within the grounds of Wooden Cabbage House in a quiet valley in West Dorset. Built in 2004 from oak sourced on the surrounding land, it’s an open-plan, generously proportioned space shaped by beams, light and wide views across the surrounding fields.  A super king-size bed sits at one end, with a comfortable sitting area, large dining table and fully equipped kitchen. There is a bright shower room, private entrance with garage parking, and access to the terrace and gardens.

Outside, guests have use of the garden, terrace and orchard, with a thatched folly overlooking the potager — a peaceful place to sit, read or watch the evening light settle. Fresh herbs from the garden are free to pick and use during your stay.

Wooden Cabbage takes its name from a local colloquialism for the stunted oak trees that grow here, and the barn feels closely tied to this landscape.

Wildlife is part of everyday life here — swallows and house martins in the summer months, owls in the evening, and the occasional deer or fox moving through the fields.

BOOKING F.AQ's

  • Weekly stays are from £945–£980, based on either Friday–Friday or Monday–Monday bookings.

    Short breaks (minimum 2 nights) are £140 per night.

  • Arrival is between 4pm and 7pm, unless arranged in advance.
    Departure is between 8.30am and 10.30am.

  • You can check availability and book a stay via out website here, or alternatively by telephone +44 (0) 1935 83362 or email relax@woodencabbage.co.uk if you prefer.

  • We kindly ask that no dogs are brought to the property.

  • If you are booking directly with us, and not via out website a deposit equal to the first night’s stay is required to secure the booking. The remaining balance is payable before departure.

    Payment can be made by cash, cheque, BACS, or card (Visa Debit, Switch, Mastercard, Visa or American Express).

    • More than 40 days before arrival: 20% of the booking is charged

    • Less than 21 days before arrival: 75% of the booking is charged

    • Less than 7 days before arrival: 100% of the booking is charged

    If the accommodation is re-let for the full cancelled period, only a £20 admin fee will apply.

    In the event of a no-show or a shortened stay, no refund will be given.
